About GoodEnoughChats

Hi there, and thanks for checking this section of the site out. I'm Dan, and want to use this opportunity to explain a bit more about why GoodEnoughChats exists.

For many years, I've struggled with low self-esteem, anxiety, and bouts of depression, but it really all came to a head for me in 2017. At the time I was working in a high-pressure, corporate environment and circumstances conspired to take me beyond the point at which I could cope.

I went through a major burnout, derailing my life for months and leaving me with mental scars that still affect me today, almost a decade later.

At my lowest point, I felt isolated and helpless, but when I started to answer questions like, "How are you doing?" honestly, the responses I got from people made me realise that I was far from alone, and that in itself gave me more strength to focus on my recovery.

GoodEnoughChats came about as a direct result of this experience, and my wanting to help other guys realise they aren't alone, and they don't need to suffer in silence. I found that talking openly about my experiences helped me as much as it helped others, and I want this platform to continue to grow so that this bank of conversations is there to show other guys to seek out the help they need in the future.

This isn't about expert advice, but about showing men that talking about this stuff is the best way to help themselves.

I'm grateful to every one of the guys who comes forward to share their story in support of this idea, and each of their chats has the potential to make a real difference to others.

If you'd like to understand more about my lived experiences, please take a look at the Community Stories section of the site. And if you' like to get in touch, feel free to fill in the form below - it all comes through directly to me.

Dan.
